Weghorst hadn’t scored in the Bundesliga since the 1st of December but on Saturday he put that right against Alfred Schreuder’s Hoffenheim.
The Dutchman opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 18th minute after a handball in the box. Christoph Baumgartner equalised for Hoffenheim on the stroke of half-time.
Seven minutes into the second half, Weghorst once again scored a penalty to restore Wolfsburg’s lead. A third spot-kick was then awarded which saw Andrej Kramaric make it 2-2.
Weghorst would have the last laugh, though, with his lob making it 3-2 in the 71st minute. That goal earned his side the win and took his tally for the season to ten goals.
