Wolfsburg went into Friday’s clash unbeaten in the Bundesliga so far in their opening ten games. Wout Weghorst was a key factor in his side’s success with seven goals, and five in his last four games.
Wolfsburg’s run looked in threat when Bas Dost fired Eintracht Frankfurt ahead, but then Weghorst once again stepped up for his side. The former AZ star netted a penalty before going on to score the winning goal in the 88th minute.
The Dutchman remains in top form and now has seven goals in his last five games. Only Robert Lewandowski and Eric Haaland can boast a better scoring record over the same period.
Weghorst recently stated he was doing all he can to grab Frank de Boer’s attention and the Netherlands coach must now be considering a long awaited recall for the tall striker.
In terms of form in front of goal, Weghorst is far more productive than Luuk de Jong at the moment.
What can Weghorst do else to book his place in oranje squad ?!! Kluivert also is in good form now and deserves to have a chance.
While I understand that Holland uses Memphis as the CF often, the fact that Luuk De Jong continues to be picked over Weghorst is just nuts. I know De Jong scored a couple big goals for Sevilla but Weghorst has been FAR more consisent and over a longer time period, too.
