Georginio Wijnaldum was today asked about Barcelona’s alleged interest in signing him from Liverpool.

When Ronald Koeman was appointed Barcelona boss, the club was almost immediately linked with a move for Wijnaldum, who is in the last year of his contract at Liverpool.

However, a move never happened and Wijnaldum will remain with Liverpool until at least January.

Speaking at his press conference before Netherlands clash with Mexico, Wijnaldum was asked just how serious the interest from Barcelona was.

He responded, “I don’t think it was that serious, otherwise you would have read a bit more, or more would have happened. There was nothing concrete, I didn’t have to think about it. I will stay on what it looks like now. It can of course change in the coming months, you never know that with football.”
