wijnaldum nu trebAfter a turbulent first season with Newcastle which ended with relegation, Wijnaldum has started both the recent Netherlands friendlies and scored the winning goal against Poland.

On whether his relegation with Newcastle would affect Wijnaldum’s national team chances, he told De Telegraaf, “The trainer decides whether he takes me also to Orange if I play a league lower. But to be honest, I have not thought about it. ”

“Of course I want to play at a high level as possible, in the Premier League, with a beautiful club. But not everything goes the way you want. I’ll see what happens. The strange thing is that I have very nice statistics for a midfielder despite the relegation. I was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. Only the numbers were worthless. That’s a shame.”

Wijnaldum scored 11 goals and added five assists for Newcastle last season.
