After Relegation from the Premier League, Newcastle United are expected to lose many of their top players. They currently have five Dutch players but where will they be playing come next season?

A season of injuries has kept the Newcastle number one to making only eight Premier League appearances this season. Tim Krul has now spent ten years at the Geordie club and has played for Newcastle in the Championship previously. This indicates he will be prepared to do it again and will hope to regain fitness and form to help guide his side back to the Premiership on the first time of asking. With only a year left on his contract, it is possible that Newcastle cash in on the Dutch keeper.

Prediction – Stay

Daryl Janmaat Newcastle UnitedDaryl Janmaat

Janmaat has been one of the more impressive players this season for Newcastle and put in a brilliant performance in the 5-1 win against Tottenham in which he scored. There has been a lot of talk about the full backs future and it looks like it could be elsewhere with reports of three Italian teams after the ex-Feyenoord man. The three teams are believed to be Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli and if either of these teams are interested you would not blame Daryl Janmaat for leaving.

Prediction – Leaves for Serie A

anitVurnon Anita

Anita is a fans favourite due to his good attitude, versatility and brilliant work rate. I think his relationship with the fans will make it hard for him to leave and could really impress in the Championship. With many midfielders scheduled to leave the club, the Dutch midfielder could use this as an opportunity to cement himself as a first choice midfielder rather than a versatility player.

Prediction – Stay

de jong nufSiem De Jong

The Dutch international has failed to shine despite the confidence Rafa Benitez had in him at the start of his reign. Having only scored one goal for the relegated side since joining in 2014, he could use the Championship as a stepping stone to regain confidence and form or he could be tempted by a move back to Ajax which has been rumoured. I believe if Rafa Benitez stays this could lead to Siem De Jong also staying as Benitez has shown a lot of confidence in him. A move to former club Ajax could be the right decision for the Dutch forward however.

Prediction – If Rafa Benitez stays so will he however if Benitez leaves, De Jong will return to the Eredivisie.

wijnaldum 4Georginio Wijnaldum

Georginio has had a better season for Newcastle United compared to his Dutch compatriots however after a poor second half of the season it could be best for both parties for Wijnaldum to leave. Newcastle cannot afford his wages if he is not performing to the best of his ability and the Dutch midfielder is simply too good to play in the Championship. His performance against Tottenham Hotspur is a reminder to all Premier League clubs and Europe of his abilities and what he can produce. There have been rumours of Manchester United and Southampton interested in signing him this summer and i think the Premier League is where he will stay.

Prediction – Leaves to sign for Manchester United or Southampton in a deal good for both Newcastle and Wijnaldum.
