A superb strike from Navarone Foor handed NEC Nijmegen a 1-0 win over Willem II on Friday evening.

foor necUnhappy with his side’s performances so far this season, Willem II coach Jurgen Streppel decided to leave striker Richairo Zivkovic on the bench in favour of Robert Braber.

The change seemed to have an effect on the goal-shy home side, but Braber couldn’t net the opening goal despite three good headed chances in the opening half hour. At the other end Kostas Lamprous was quiet in the Willem II goal, but was called upon to deny Santos just before the break.

The opening goal did eventually come in the 64th minute as Navarone Foor cut in from the left hand side before curling an unstoppable shot over Lamprou and into the top corner.

Zivkovic and new signing Lucas Andersen came off the bench after the goal, but neither could rescue a point for Willem II. NEC now has six points from their opening four games, while Willem II are still struggling on two.
