Willem II threw away a two goal lead at bottom side De Graafschap last week and from the beginning in Tilburg their players looked determined to make up for the result and they dominated the opening stages. Both Nick van der Velden and Erik Falkenburg had chances to break the deadlock early on, but they could not beat Mickey van der Hart.
In the 27th minute PEC Zwolle striker Lars Veldwijk was presented with a guilt edged chance after an excellent cross from Sheraldo Becker, but his close range shot was too weak and Kostas Lamprou saved. Straight down the other end Van der Velden forced Van der Hart into an excellent reflex save to keep the scores level.
Two minutes before the break PEC Zwolle broke the deadlock through Ouasim Bouy, who decided to shoot from a long range free kick and the ball ended up in the back of the net.
After the break PEC Zwolle gained control of the game and limited Willem II to few chances, with Robert Braber and Funso Ojo wasting the opportunities that did come their way. With the win PEC Zwolle leap back to third, while Willem II sit 13th.
