Willem II have consolidated their place in ninth with a simple victory over PEC Zwolle.

The home side took a deserved lead on 24 minutes with Erik Falkenburg netting on the rebound after Mickey van der Hart denied Dico Kopper’s strike.

Ten minutes later Falkenburg thought he made it 2-0 when he headed past van der Hart but Ouasim Bouy got back to clear on the line. Replays showed that the ball may have crossed over before the midfielder got to it, but with no goal-line technology, the referee waved play on.

Ron Jans made a double change before the break as he looked to improve his disappointing side but they could not find the equaliser. In the final minute, Thom Haye netted to seal the win for the hosts.

Willem II sit comfortably in ninth and have already passed the points total they achieved last season. PEC Zwolle remain in 13th.
