Willem II have made midfielder Erik Falkenburg their eighth signing of the summer.

falkenThe 27-year-old arrives on a free transfer due to a relegation release clause in his contract at NAC Breda, who lost their Eredivisie status after being defeated by Roda JC in the play-offs last season.

Falkenburg admitted there was lots of interest in him from Denmark, Belgium and Greece. Although he insists he wanted to remain in the Netherlands and says “it’s a nice chance to play in the Eredivisie again”.

The attacking midfielder started his career at Sparta Rotterdam, before moving to AZ. Following loans at NEC and Go Ahead, he moved to NAC last summer where he scored 5 goals in 27 games.
