Willem II earned their first league win of the season with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Heracles Almelo.

Willem II lost their opening game against Heerenveen last week but hammered Progres Niederkorn 5-0 in the Europa League midweek to set up a tie with Scottish side Rangers FC. First up was a tie with Heracles Almelo, who were without Silvester van der Water, who has handed in a transfer request and refused to play.

The first-half was one to forget with neither side able to cause any danger, but after the break, Willem II exploded.

Immediately after the break, Vangelis Pavlidis fired Willem II ahead before Görkem Saglam doubled the lead. Substitute John Yeboah then made it 3-0 by the 52nd minute as the Heracles defence fell apart.

Frank Wormuth responded by making four substitutions at once, which is the first time that has ever happened in an Eredivisie clash. The changes stopped the goals from flowing until the 84th minute when Pavlidis netted his second after a swift attack.

A confidence boosting win for Willem II ahead of their tie with Rangers, while Heracles suffer their first loss of the campaign.
