Willem II have finally recorded their first win of 2016 with a second half header from Terell Ondaan enough for the Tilburg side to beat Vitesse Arnhem.

willvitteOn paper Vitesse Arnhem seemed heavy favourites to beat struggling Willem II, but the home side failed to get going in a boring first half which saw neither side threaten to break the deadlock.

At the start of the second half Vitesse improved slightly and Marvelous Nakamba came close to opening the scoring, while Milot Rashica saw a penalty appeal turned down.

Just after the hour mark Willem II stunned the home fans by taking the lead, with Terell Ondaan finishing Lucas Andersen’s corner. It was a great moment for the young attacker, who has missed most of the last year through injury.

The home side pushed for an equaliser, but Willem II held firm to record their first win since the 20th of December. Vitesse remain 7th, while Willem II sit 15th.
