The 21-year-old’s deal with PSV expired at the end of the season and after receiving offers from a number of clubs, Van Overbeek decided on a move to Deventer, signing a two-year-deal with Go Ahead Eagles on Wednesday.
Speaking to the Go Ahead Eagles website, Van Overbeek said, “With Go Ahead Eagles, I had the best feeling. I’ve had good discussions today with coach Dennis Demmers, then the choice was not so difficult.
“Go Ahead have proved for a long time that young players can grow here in Deventer. Just look at guys like Quincy Promes and Jarchinio Antonia, who made the right step and then went higher. I want that too. ”
Van Overbeek was a regular for Jong PSV in the Eerste Divisie last season, scoring three goals in 35 appearances before representing Netherlands U21’s at the Toulon Tournament.
