Weghorst played a key role in the game, scoring both goals and also missing two penalties. His fifth and sixth goal of the season now makes him top scorer in the Eredivisie.
Weghorst said, ”I am happy to have scored two goals but also a little bit disappointed to have missed two penalties.
”I placed the first one quiet well but Roy Kortsmit was very quick off his line and the second penalty was not too convincing. But I have the opinion when you get a penalty you must score.
”I am a perfectionist who demands a lot of himself and I had a mentality tonight that I am not leaving the pitch without scoring.
”I have set myself a target to score 20 goals this season and I believe that is a feasible target for an AZ Alkmaar striker and I am going to do all I can to achieve it.
”Before tonight I scored 6 of my last 7 penalties but I will speak with my teammates about if I continue to take them or not but if it is down to me I want to continue to take them.”
