The 22-year-old could earn his first Netherlands cap next month after being named by Guus Hiddink for a training camp in preparation for the ties with USA and Latvia next month.
Ziyech, who has represented Netherlands at U19,U20 and U21 level, could have switched his allegiances to Morocco, but confirmed to De Telegraaf that the Oranje are his first choice because he wants to play at a World Cup or European Championships.
He said, “For every player it is a difficult choice, but what has given me the decisive factor is that the Netherlands often leads to big tournaments.”
Ziyech was in great form for FC Twente this season, ending the season top of the assist charts with 16, whilst also scoring 13 goals.
